Our Team

Dr. Neal K. Patel

DPM, DABPM, FAPWH

Dr. Neal K. Patel is a double board certified and fellowship trained reconstructive foot and ankle surgeon. He obtained his bachelor’s degree from Indiana University Bloomington and his medical degree from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine. Dr. Patel then completed his foot and ankle surgical residency at Jesse Brown Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Chicago, IL where he served as Chief Resident. His training involved surgical and non-surgical management of various lower extremity conditions with an emphasis on wound care, amputation prevention, deformity correction, and infection management. During his residency, he participated in clinical research with scientific presentations at multiple surgical and wound care conferences.

Upon completion of his residency, he relocated to Southern California and completed a fellowship in advanced wound care, diabetic limb salvage and lower extremity reconstructive surgery. During his time in Los Angeles, Dr. Patel maintained privileges at top-ranked Cedars Sinai Medical Center and worked alongside leaders in the fields of plastic, vascular, and orthopaedic surgery. As an avid learner and proponent of furthering the craft, Dr. Patel devoted his free time to surgical training of resident physicians and students.

Today Dr. Patel is bringing his practice to his home State of Indiana. During his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, watching Indiana sports, outdoor activities, and trying cultural cuisine. He is excited to be home and serving the Hoosier State!

Dr. Thomas Zumbaugh

DPM, AACFAS, FAPWH

Dr. Thomas Zumbaugh began his academic career at Indiana University Bloomington graduating with a degree in Biology and Chemistry. From here, Dr. Zumbaugh pursued his passion for medicine at the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine, graduating Summa Cum Laude, where he was colleagues with Dr. Neal K. Patel.

After medical school, Dr. Zumbaugh decided on a new challenge on the East Coast and underwent a rigorous four year residency program at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. His focus was on lower extremity limb salvage and reconstruction under the instruction of prestigious faculty in Foot & Ankle surgery. During this time, Dr. Zumbaugh was able to train alongside world renowned surgeons in Vascular and Plastic Surgery to further his expertise in the management of lower extremity pathology.

As an attending physician, Dr. Zumbaugh has maintained privileges with Penn Medicine and UPMC hospital systems in central Pennsylvania. His focus has continued to be wound reconstruction and lower extremity limb preservation.

Dr. Zumbaugh is excited to be back in his home state of Indiana and is honored to have the opportunity to serve the Hoosier community.

Kelsey Barth

PA-C, APWH-PA

Kelsey Barth is an Indiana-licensed and NCCPA Board Certified Physician Assistant.

Originally from Wisconsin, Kelsey holds a double Bachelor of Science degree in Neurobiology and Communicative Disorders from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, having graduated in 2014. Throughout her undergraduate career, Kelsey was actively involved in both clinical care and research, employed by UW Hospital and UW School of Medicine & Public Health. She was later accepted into Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine & Science, where she completed her Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Practice in 2019. During the intensive two-year program, Kelsey focused not only on her studies, achieving the Dean’s Award for Scholarship but also on community outreach.

Kelsey is passionate about providing patient-centric care and strives to deliver an individualized patient experience, having practiced in outpatient, inpatient, and operative settings. Kelsey’s evidence-based approach to medicine focuses on utilizing innovative, cutting-edge technologies to deliver treatments that are as effective as they are efficient.

Beginning her career in dermatology, she later transitioned to reconstructive plastics/limb salvage at both a private practice as well as the prestigious Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA. There, her work included comprehensive surgical and non-surgical management of various wounds, including: chronic wounds, pressure ulcers, burns, lacerations, gangrene, infection management, and debridements.

Having recently relocated back to her native Midwest, Kelsey and her husband Sam are enjoying settling into their new home, where she will continue her quest of making every recipe in The Great British Bake-off cookbook, and Sam will continue his quest to eat everything she makes.
